I'm speechless. Anyone pregnant or even thinking about having kids needs to watch the video she links to at the end of the article. It's EXTREMELY difficult to watch and more so with the volume on. If anyone says that babies don't feel this, listen to this little guy. And 20,000 nerve endings?...think about that. Wow. Please be informed before you make your decision. (on baby circumcision)

I think anyone could tell that my kids are ready for warmer weather and that its been rather cold here for a loooong time. Caedmon comes in from outside "Mom! It's summer out there!! It's SMOOPER hot!" Temp says '42 feels like 35' Ha!

That's disgusting. Barbara McKeever, you might wanna convince Dad to drink something else....
Quote:
Are you a Mountain Dew addict? Then know what you're drinking! BVO is a toxic chemical that is banned in many countries because it competes with iodine for receptor sites in the body, which can lead to hypothyroidism, autoimmune disease, and cancer. The main ingredient, bromine, is a poisonous, corrosive chemical, linked to major organ system damage, birth defects, growth problems, schizophrenia, and hearing loss.

"There’s flame retardant in your Mountain Dew. That soda with the lime-green hue (and other citrus-flavored bubbly pops) won’t keep your insides fireproof, but it does contain brominated vegetable oil, a patented flame retardant for plastics that has been banned in foods throughout Europe and in Japan.

Brominated vegetable oil, or BVO, which acts as an emulsifier in citrus-flavored soda drinks, is found in about 10 percent of sodas sold in the U.S.

“After a few extreme soda binges — not too far from what many [video] gamers regularly consume – a few patients have needed medical attention for skin lesions, memory loss and nerve disorders, all symptoms of overexposure to bromine,” according to a recent article in Environmental News."

9 years ago this morning, I was getting my hair done to prepare for my wedding that day. This morning, I was surrounded in bed (& on the floor) with 5 littles kids, in a home that's over 15 moves later. Wow, things have changed but I am beyond blessed to have Nathan as my husband. We are like 2 peas in a pod and I seriously love him more and more each and every day! (This basket of goodies was given to us by a sweet 17 yr old young lady for our Anniversary! Its filled with sparkling grape juice, wine glasses, candles, plates, gelato, grapes, cheese, candy, and pizza! So I started this 'ticket system' with the kids where they earn tickets for their behavior, attitude, and listening right away. I am BLOWN AWAY at how well it is working!!! Everything I have asked or told them to do, it's "Yes, Mom!" and it's done immediately!!! They even stay in their bed at night!!! That's pretty much a miraculous event... Lovin' these tickets!!

New hooks

We had several hooks (12 to be exact) in the hook & cubby system my dad helped me make last year but now with winter & school, I was finding *way too many things on the floor of our entry way, plus no place for guests' coats when they come.

We have an empty wall between our front door and our door to the garage. I think i thought before that that space was unusable since the front door opens up to that wall so you couldn't put anything on it. Well how silly of me!  It's the perfect spot for hooks!  One text to my dad with the board measurements, a little paint and a few hooks (which are crazy expensive btw!) and we have some awesome functional space!! I love them and I love my (mostly) mess-free entry way now!

The other ones are a tad full!

We staggered the boards a tad so the hooks wouldn't line up...and it was an after thought but with stuff on there all the time, you can't tell anyway. And it's not this bare anymore. This is right after they went up :)

And another one to hang backpacks! Love it!!

Oh! And the day he came over here to hang them, my boys were supposed to go to a bday party. Since I leave home at least twice a day (sometimes more) and Sundays are church etc, I really just wanted to stay home. I felt bad bc I knew the boys would have really liked to go to the party etc but I just needed to get a few things done! Well, my dad called and asked if he could come help me! Whaaaat?? He said that he would pick up the boys, take them to the party, come back and hang my hooks, and then go pick up the boys! Wow!! Sure you can help! The boys loved the party and I love my hooks! And I liked having company for a few hours as well, so thanks Dad!

Good evening

I had a good evening. I've been really trying to focus on my kids lately, especially at night, and wanting them to know how much I love them even when some days I just can't get them in bed soon enough!  I put down stuff I was doing to read books to C & J. They both loved it. I hugged Caedmon. I asked Jaeg to say a few words, he did! Owl and turtle are a couple he says as are so cute!!! I later asked Caedmon what was his favorite part of the day. Thinking it was going to be finishing a pace or playing dodge ball during break, he says with a smile, "when you hugged me". Tears!!  Oh if that wasn't convicting!! So sweet of him. I have to remember to not be too busy that I forget to hug my kids.

Ariella was singing to selah while I was reading books so she'd stay happy. It wa precious. She loved it.

Jaegers so sweet...

Making gingerbread houses! I ran to get lunch at chipotle so I was gone during most of the messy part...which I'm thankful for! Lol!

That's a nice place for Jaeg while we make cookies! He can see and he's out of the way!

She's a natural!! She scooped her up and was bouncing her from side to side to keep her happy.

Sisters snuggling :)

And now Selahs finally asleep next to me and it's only 10:09 so I'm going to sleep too!! She's normally real fussy until 11:30 or so, so I'm taking advantage of this time!

Our weekend

I've been trying to write this post for a couple nights now, let's see if I can actually finish :)

Today was one of those "the day went by and I got absolutely nothing done" days.  Wait, that's not absolutely true...we got some fellow-shipping done, just nothing around the house that was on the list done.  But that's okay, there's always tomorrow.

The phone kept ringing and then we had a quick visit from Ana and her family.  Ana was the young lady who stayed with me a starting a couple years ago when Nathan was working on the road.  I've blogged about her before.  Her and her family were in town wedding dress shopping as she recently got engaged!  Also, she's asked us if our 4 boys would be the ring bearers and if Ariella would be their flower girl!  How fun will that be!  I just hope they all behave :)

Then after they left, my phone kept ringing and between that and baby, I completely lost track of time and before I know it, I looked at the clock and it was 2:30!  yikes!!  I'm supposed to be AT school at 2:30 to pick up the boys!  Ugh!  Quick!  Get everyone into the van, call school and tell them that I'm running late and hurry up and get there.  Pretty soon Melissa called me and my boys were in her van and she just waited for me to get there.  We chatted thru the windows of our van, which is the regular thing we do when we pick up the kids.  We are often one of the last ones in the parking lot as it seems to be the only time we have to chat....while our 12 kids sit in the vehicles with us. lol :)

During that chat we decided to head over to Bounce Adventure so the kids could play for awhile.  After about 3 hours of bouncing and some pizza, we came home and the kids went to bed great! :)  Well...most of them anyway....still have a semi-fussy Selah laying next to me :)

Yesterday was a great day.  After a not-so-good Sunday (and sat night) between Nathan and I, we decided it would be best if he took Monday off so we could work through some stuff and have a day together.  Since Melissa and I have decided to swap kids one day a week, I asked her to take mine yesterday so from 8:30 til 2:30, we only had Selah!  We started off the day with a coffee date at 360 and ended it with a lunch date at Mexican Village and did a bunch of errands that needed to get done in between, and it was so nice to be able to spend some quality time together.

Saturday we spent the day with Melissa, Devin and their family.  It's been awhile since all 16 (wow!) of us go together, so it was nice.

Look at this cutie :)  She'll be SIX weeks tomorrow!!!
 Smile

Gathering around the couch (that was moved real close to the fireplace) to watch Tenth Avenue North's "Deck the Halls" video. Kids favorite :)

The advent calendar that my mom made.  Over-the-top fabulous.  Each day has a box (that my mom handmade) with a mini ornament in it!  Along with a calendar with those turn it is to open the present. (Brilliant)

The mini Christmas tree that the mini ornaments go on!

Devin just started his own survival training company, based on his experience and expertise with what he did in the military.  Here his is teaching Nathan how to escape if your hands are tied with duct tape.

Nathan's turn to try to get out...

Now Devin's turn

Up next....Melissa tying up Devin in the chair with rope.  How will he escape?

Very quickly....1 min and 14 seconds and he was out....

She napped! & Great Gma & Gpa

Selah reminds me a tad of Tiernan when he was a baby...she doesn't nap often, unless you are holding her. Well this mom of many needs to have her baby nap at least for a little bit during the day without having to hold or wear her. So the other day I decided to try laying her on her tummy to see if that helped. And it worked!! I've done it only three times so far, but each time I've gotten her to sleep at least an hour! The first time I couldn't believe it! 5 mins had passed & no fussing...then 15 mins...(& I even texted Melissa at this point bc I was so shocked!)...then 55 mins..then she woke up after an hour!! Think ill be trying this more often at nap time during the day!!

Meeting Great Gma & Gpa

First time at the chiro

Selah meet Dr. Mike...

Checking out her skull...perfectly formed.

So relaxing she yawned :)

She's good!

Selah doesn't sleep when I'm not holding her. Period. So imagine my surprise when I tried laying her on her changing table on her tummy and she slept for *exacly ONE HOUR!!!!!  Maybe she's a tummy sleeper?...I'm not sure but it was nice for me!!
