Two Days in a Row??

Last night I was crabby, to say the least.  The afternoon started off fine by making a trip to Miller Auto to get the oil changed in the van...with all 6 kids.  It usually is fine and a super fun place for the kids bc they have the playground area plus free ice cream, popcorn, pop etc.  They told me it'd be a half hour and I made sure to specify that I'd prefer the coupon for the car wash instead of them taking the extra 10 minutes for them to wash it.  Well...an hour and 20 mins later, our buzzer finally beeps.  ugh!!!  And what do ya know, they washed the van.  I had a bunch of errands to run quick afterwards and wanted to make it to the post office before 4pm, and now that won't happen...  And to top things off, the kids decided to take advantage of mom being busy paying and talking to the service guy that they all took a cup and put some free pop in it and were guzzling it as fast as possible!!  The only good thing was that they were able to fix our seat that wouldn't slide forward for only $10.  Oh, and Nathan got home during this time bc of rain so I knew he was home, making me more frustrated.

So I skipped my errands and just wanted to get home.  Once home, I was not exactly happy and really wanted to "get away"....so I texted Melissa.  I figured chances of getting together were slim if any and sure enough, she said she had the little ones while her husband was gone with the older ones.  Then she texted me back and said that her brother would watch her littles, she was free!!  Now, keep in mind that it's been a loooooong time since her and I were able to get away, just us two.  Like maybe even before our last 2 were born!!  It was well over-due.

So I picked her up and went over to Grizzleys to eat supper.  We sat there for a long time, chatting and eating.  Our waitress hardly came around bc she said she didn't want to interrupt our conversation.  She could obviously tell that we don't get out much, lol!  After that we did what any moms of lots of littles would do....take a stroll thru Bed Bath and Beyond and Target!!  I texted Nathan to make sure the kids were in bed before heading home :)

Then tonight, Nathan was getting together with his friend Scott so I told Melissa that her and the kids were welcome to come over and hang out with us for "movie and popcorn" night if they wanted.  So they came out for some grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup and then stayed to play for awhile.  We did some comparing of bellys again...and it's official...i'm catching up to melissa!!  She only has about 3 weeks to go tho since she has her babys between 34-36 weeks.  She is currently almost 33 weeks and I'm just turning 29 weeks.  (The belly pic below are above: Mel 20 weeks and me 16 weeks...the bottom...Mel 33 weeks and me 29 weeks).

Start of week 26

Before church at the end of week 25, start of week 26! She's been a movin' and a groovin' for sure!!!

Entryway change

We needed (ok, I wanted) a change in our entry again. This system worked great for the time being but I was tired of it. So we chnaged it back to the way it was before and then added some decorative stuff along with letters for the kids hooks. I also hung hooks in the garage for backpacks and lunch bags so the bulkiness of them didn't take up space in the entry hall. Best.idea.ever.

Cute kids

So Jaeg picked out his outfit this day, he did good! :) (btw, he is now mostly potty trained, finally!!!! This kid is taking forever! He's got the #1 thing down no problem and hardly even needs to be reminded but #2 has been tricky and he usually just ends up going in his undies and then telling us. Yesterday tho, at Easter, he came up to me "pee potty!" so I said 'Lets go' and ran to gmas bathroom quick. He proceeded to go #1 AND #2 and then said "all done!" and I was so shocked (& happy lol) so maybe we are at the brink of no more underwear messes??)

And Selah got into Ariellas "play" makeup. She actuslly did a pretty good job getting most on her eyelids...how does she know that's where that goes??

Easter

Yesterday was Easter. Last FPU class for me, lunch at Mary's, supper at mom's....was a busy day.

Selah didn't want anything to do with taking pics at first.

Then I asked if she wanted an M&M...just the thought was enough to make her stop crying enough to get a couple pictures. Too bad she's teething and always has her fist shoved in her mouth. Still cute tho :)

And we gave Lucky to our old neighbors on Sat. Nathan had had enough of the cat. The kids didn't want to give it up, but we were super thankful he went to someone we knew.

Caedmon got a potato necklace sent to him by Great Gma. He was so excited. He wears it all the time. Him and Gma have a really neat pen-pal relationship going that I think they both enjoy!

Back to the old ways?

I think I should go back to using my camera, uploading pics and then doing posts on the computer. Seems like evwv though I have the tools at my finger tips with a camera and a posting app right in my phone, I still did way more posts in "the old days" hmmmm!

It's coming full circle for tiernan. We changed his diapers for how many years and now he gets to change someone else's. Ha! Love it!

Crazy hair day at school. The boys weren't that crazy. Just spiked w a mohawk but since their hair is short, it wasn't that noticeable.

Today I showed Justin, the guy who bought the salon from me back in nov, the salon for the first time! That was fun and hopefully within a couple weeks, he will fully take it over, yippee!

Caedmons free hand drawing of the US. So good for an 8 yr old. His spatial ability is mind blowing. He started w Maine & worked his way east.

Nathan put in a new ceiling fan the other day. I underestimated his ability. He actually did it very quickly and it's so much quieter than our old one! Glad that one went out! Although it was kinda scary bc it pretty much melted the whole inside and smelled really bad. Glad it didn't start a fire.

Back to cold

So we had a warm snap recently with temps into the 40s for several days. We'll take it since it's January! All the snow melted and it was starting to feel more like march or April. We know better though and now temps are back down (-5 this morning) w about an inch of snow on the ground.

Mom and Dad made it back from Arkansas this week. They were gone for just over a month. We went to their house yesterday after school and the kids were so excited. Caedmon spent most of his time drawing a map of the US. Boy that child likes to draw! He def doesn't get his skills from his mom though!

We are signed up for a marriage retreat in a few weeks, will be a nice wknd getaway with one of Nathan's brothers and wife. We are looking forward to some time away too!

With Nathan laid off this winter (he kinda voluntarily took it off), we've been staying in bed til about 6:30am. Well, the kids get up at about 5:45 racing upstairs to start their day. The only problem with that is that most of the time, the little ones get in to stuff that they shouldn't bc the older ones leave it out or open or whatever. Out of all the years that I've been a parent, I've never "babyproofed" stuff as in locking cabinets etc but go figure with our 6th, I finally broke down and got cabinet locks and they are the best things ever!! (As long as they are kept locked) One problem we were having w Jaeg was that he was going into the fridge whenever he wants to get whatever he wants. Um, no. But we couldn't watch him every second so Ariella actually had the idea that we should put one of the cabinet locks around the handles of the fridge. Best.idea.ever! That along w keeping the pantry locked, keeps jaeg out of a LOT of trouble!

While I was typing this, jaeg went into our bedroom, climbed up all of our dressers drawers in our walk in closet to get a basket of goodies I have set up their for a friend who's bday is coming up. He got to the basket and ripped open all the candy boxes that were in there. Ugh!! That child is a climber and def starting to get into his 'not so easy' toddler years!! Between him and selah getting into stuff, we can't relax much during the day!!

I write this stuff and take pics of their messes bc one day I hope we will find all of this funny :)

This morning, Jaeg opened a bag of veggie sticks and dumped them all over the table, had gotten a bag of little weiners and a cutie orange outta the fridge and was happily eating whatever when we got up. We might hafta wake up earlier :/
